😍 G'day Beautiful People! You know that feeling when you're living your best life, bouncing between Auckland data science courses and Sydney AWS Summits, and suddenly you have a life-changing epiphany... while shaving? Yeah, that was my month. Welcome to the wonderfully chaotic world of The Digital Coach! 🎭 When Foxy Friday Meets Real Life 📽️ Picture this: One minute I'm running a Practical Data Science course for fantastic customers in Auckland (insert obligatory travel selfie here), the next I'm hosting AWS Summit Sydney alongside the incredible Rae Johnston, and somewhere in between I'm having philosophical breakthroughs with a razor in hand. If that's not the modern professional experience, I don't know what is! 😂 The AWS Summit Sydney 2025 was absolutely mind-blowing, and for those who missed it, don't panic! It's all available on-demand because we live in the future, people. I even made a cheeky trailer that'll give you a good laugh – because if you can't have fun with cloud computing, what's the point? ☁️ But here's where it gets interesting... The Great Shaving Revelation: PACMan Well-Architected Framework for Life 🧔♂️ So there I was, Wednesday morning, razor in hand, contemplating the mysteries of the universe (as you do), when it hit me like a Lightning Talk at 9 AM – we need a Well-Architected Framework for LIFE! And thus, the PACMan Framework was born. Yes, I named it after the classic video game because everything's better with a bit of 80s nostalgia, right? 🕹️ The Seven Pillars of Not Screwing Up Your Life: 🔐 Safety (Because Nobody Wants to Be a Cautionary Tale)
🤑 Cost Optimization (Your Future Self Will Thank You)
😍 Resiliency (The Art of Bouncing Back)
🏥 Health (Operational Excellence for Humans)
⚖️ Performance Efficiency (Measure All The Things)
🌏 Sustainability (Think Global, Act Local)
The Behind-the-Scenes Magic of AWS Summit Sydney 🎪 Speaking of incredible experiences, let me pull back the curtain on what it takes to organize something as massive as AWS Summit Sydney. It's like coordinating a small army, except everyone's caffeinated and passionate about cloud computing! ☕ As the track lead for Strategy & Culture, I had the privilege of working with some absolutely legendary Amazonians. Felicity Witt provided unwavering support during the session decision phase (translation: she kept me sane), while Rad Macakanja stepped into rehearsals I couldn't make because apparently I can't be in two places at once – still working on that superpower! 🦸♂️ Stefan Aichholzer became the Lightning Talk Whisperer, managing speakers with the patience of a saint and the organizational skills of a military commander. Adrian Hunter attended more talks than humanly possible across multiple tracks, providing feedback that was both constructive and critical – basically the Simon Cowell of AWS talks, but nicer! 🎤 The day-of coordination was epic. Derek Bingham and Nikki Cousins gave me the opportunity to co-host alongside the seasoned professional Rae Johnston. Working with Amanda Shaw on scripts and rehearsals for the live stream was like being part of a well-oiled machine, except the machine runs on coffee and collective expertise! 📺 The Real VIPs 🏆 But here's the thing that gets me every time – it's the customers who make all this worthwhile. The people who take time to ask questions, engage in conversations, and trust us to help them succeed. They're the reason we do what we do, and they reminded me why I love being part of this incredible AWS community. And can we talk about the Training and Certification team? Adam Britten, Nigel Watson, and especially Rodney de Pater (officially the Best Manager in the World – yes, I'm biased!) provided support that went above and beyond. These are the people who make the magic happen behind the scenes! 🎭 Brisbane Community Love 🌴 Oh, and if you're in Brisbane, you absolutely must check out the Brisbane Community Day courtesy of Thoughtworks. Big thanks to Alan Blockley for the invite – because community events are where the real connections happen, and frankly, Brisbane knows how to throw a party! 🎉 The Bottom Line 📊 Whether I'm running around Auckland teaching data science, hosting at Sydney Summit, or having life-changing realizations in the bathroom mirror, one thing remains constant – we're all just trying to figure it out as we go along. The difference is whether we're having fun while doing it! 😄 The PACMan Framework might sound ridiculous (okay, it IS ridiculous), but sometimes the best insights come from the most unexpected places. Who knew that combining AWS Well-Architected principles with basic life skills would create something actually useful? So here's my challenge to you: Take something technical you know well, and see how it applies to real life. I guarantee you'll surprise yourself with what you discover. And if you come up with something brilliant while doing mundane tasks, share it with the world – we need more accidental wisdom! 💡 What's Next?🔮 As always, I'm looking forward to inspiring more of you to do incredible work. Whether that's mastering generative AI, building resilient systems, or just figuring out how to optimize your daily routine for maximum happiness, we're all in this together. Drop me a comment and let me know:
That's all for now from Digital Colmer HQ... stay safe, take care, and remember – life's too short for boring frameworks! 😍 P.S. – Go the Maroons! 🎉Co-Written with Generative AI #TheDigitalCoach #AWS #GenerativeAI #LifeHacks #CommunityLove #BrisbaneEvents #ProfessionalDevelopment #WorkLifeBalance
